Global Hot Spots

Canada - October 23, 2018

CUPW has given notice that it intends to hold rotating strikes in the Greater Toronto Area, (excluding Scarborough) and most of the 905-region beginning after 12:01 am on Tuesday, October 23.

Mail and parcels will not be delivered or picked up in Toronto during the rotating strike. However, Toronto is also a key processing hub for mail and parcels in Canada. The union’s rotating strike will therefore have a significant impact on Canada Post operations. Canada Post will make every effort to minimize the impact, but customers across the country may see delays for parcel and mail delivery.

Canada Post continues to operate across the rest of Canada and is accepting and delivering mail and parcels in all other locations.

Globegistics is still accepting and processing mail and parcels destined to Canada. We have been advised there can be delay of up to 24 hours in the areas where strikes are happening.

Since August 23, 2018, talks have been ongoing between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) to avoid a potential strike.  More Info.
